The bottles are effectively made of two separate bottles, one on the inside and one on the outside, forming the ‘double wall’. This minimises heat transfer by conduction. Having two layers ensures there’s a clear divide between the heat of the outside air and the cool of the drink in the bottle, reducing heat moving between them.
If you only have a single wall to the bottle, the process of conduction means that the heat energy of the external environment transfers into the cool drink, making your water lukewarm and nasty!
Additional to this, the ‘inner bottle’ is wrapped with a high-density foam insulation layer. This foam is a very poor heat conductor, thus further reducing the transfer of warm air from the external environment into the liquid in the bottle.
So, it’s a double whammy – you have two methods of keeping a drink cool, all rolled into one bottle. We’ve tested our Bike Water Bottles against both single wall bottles and competitor insulated bottles – and we beat them all!
